What is Rett syndrome?

Rett syndrome is a rare neurological developmental disorder that primarily affects girls. In most cases, it is caused by changes in the so-called MECP2 gene. The condition affects communication, motor skills, cognition, and neurological development, among other areas.

Over the past years, research has advanced tremendously. New therapeutic approaches are now opening perspectives that seemed unimaginable only a few years ago.
